1) CONSULTATION
The first step in the process of achieving the landscape of your dreams, is to develop a working relationship with your designer.
We at Utopic Gardens find that our initial consultation is a valuable first-step tool, for both client and designer, to learn more about each other and the project, and to help determine a perfect fit!
Because all landscapes are not created equally, the initial consultation is additionally beneficial for communicating project goals and potentials, discovering any unique nuances or issues that the project may present, as well as determining the working budget and timeline to make it all happen.
2) DESIGN CONCEPT
After the initial discussion, it is often helpful or necessary to create a design concept, which provides a visual representation of the proposed work.
Utopic’s hand-drawn designs are inspired by the homeowner’s needs and desires, which typically evolve from wanting to create nooks, spaces and areas for children, pets and social gatherings, as well their wishes for a tranquil place to rest and look out over their beautiful garden.
Therefore, time is taken, not rushed, so that the designer may become adequately familiarized with the property and its homeowner, in order to create a beautiful, functional and extremely livable and custom design.
Design Concepts typically take between 4-6 weeks to complete.
3) WRITTEN PROPOSAL
Once the basic scope of work is determined, whether it be a design or a project, preparing and submitting a written proposal is the next step in the process.
Both designs and projects require a second visit to measure project site and to review details, so that the landscape designer, installer and the homeowner are all clear and confident in progressing to the next phase.
Your designer at Utopic Gardens ensures that all parties are kept abreast of progress, options, changes, etc. to work together with professionalism and ease. We believe that, in addition to a beautiful and solid design, and a quality experienced installation, good communication is paramount!
The designer is an active participant for the duration of the project, to communicate and assist with all project details.

From being the liaison between all parties, hand-selecting and placing all plants, to directing boulder and flagstone placement, all in an effort to ensure that the project goes as smoothly as imagined and proposed.
4) PROJECT COMMENCEMENT
As Pablo Picasso purportedly said, “Every act of creation is first an act of destruction.”
After waiting for all the project details to be discussed and finalized, and waiting in the queue while any proceeding projects are completed, the day of commencement finally arrives- the exciting ‘tear-out!’
This is the day when the installation crew begins removing and reducing the existing project area, quickly and efficiently, down to the blank slate it needs to be, for the new proposed creation.
5) COMPLETION
Every project- from a design concept, to a simple ‘rejuvenating planting’ or a full ‘re-design’ project, are all treated the same; with professionalism and attention to detail.
We always use high-grade materials from local vendors, and complete your project with a final walk- through, to answer any last questions and ensure that the project met or exceeded expectations, for all parties.

We believe in modern designs with old fashioned standards.
